Chain Link Fence Manufacturer's Institute

Les Grube Design Award

Ghost House is the proud recipient of the 2014 Les Grube Memorial Design Award for innovative use of chain link fence.   Each year the Chain Link Fence Manufacturer's Institute (CLFMI) celebrates one outstanding architectural project deemed to represent the most unique and innovative application of chain link fencing materials.   Established in 1984 by former CLFMI president Les Grube, the first award went to Pritzker Award-winning architect Frank Gehry for his design of the sign at Santa Monica Place.

The Chain Link Fence Manufacturer's Institute is the leading chain link fence trade association and played a key role in making Ghost House a reality.   I approached CLFMI for help in finding a sponsor for Ghost House.   Mark Levin, executive vice president of CLFMI, generously reached out to the CLFMI members on my behalf.   While several members expressed interest in the project, CLFMI member Eastern Wholesale Fence Co., Inc., in partnership with Illusions Fence were the standout candidates.

CLFMI develops safety and manufacturing standards for the industry.   The guidelines for design and construction detailing published by CLFMI were the basis for the final design specifications for Ghost House.

I would like to express a big thanks to Mark Levin for his invaluable assistance, and a sincere acknowledgement of gratitude to the Chain Link Fence Manufacturer's Institute for recognizing Ghost House with the Les Grube Design Award!
